MemberI would suggest Dynamik Website Builder. It's basically the sample theme, but with extensive and easy customization options.

MemberThe developers of Genesis recommend using a more advanced SEO plugin than what is offered in Genesis by default. Also, StudioPress doesn't plan to put much work into the SEO features going forward. The following was posted in the comments of StudioPress's latest blog post:

I am disappointed that the SEO functionality has not been update. If you look at yoast they give more helpful contextual things in terms of the keyword helper and the meta description length indicator.""NATHAN RICE

We’re probably not going to do much updating to the Genesis SEO features in the future, other than bug fixes and obvious upgrades. Instead, we actually recommend people switch to a more advanced SEO plugin if you need anything more than the basics that Genesis provides. Genesis is compatible with all the popular SEO plugins, and gracefully disables any SEO features that might conflict with the plugin. It’s pretty painless."gregg

MemberSame problem on your store site. Scroll down just past that red and black nav bar and notice how much better it looks without that there.
gregg
MemberLooks good. But I think the site would look much cleaner without that black secondary navigation bar at the top. It serves no useful purpose.

MemberManaged WordPress hosting is not that much more expensive than regular shared hosting for a low traffic site. For instance, Godaddy now has a Starter Managed WordPress plan for $6.99 (now on sale for $1). Even one of the best known Managed WordPress hosts, WPEngine, only costs $29. It's supposed to be less complicated, because they do all the back end work managing WordPress for you.
gregg
MemberSince you're already on Godaddy why don't you switch to their managed wordpress plan. Right now it's only $1/month. On Godaddy's managed wordpress plan the servers are suposedly optimized to run wordpress, and ONLY wordpress.

MemberYou're focusing on the wrong thing. The problem is not wordpress. When I clicked on your site a while ago it was zippity quick. I clicked around and all the pages loaded fast. I went back later and it took forever to connect and load. It could be mysql problems or many other things. But it's not that wordpress is inherently slow.
gregg
MemberMaybe you have a problem with your computer or internet connection. http://helloartsy.com loads very quickly for me.

MemberAlso I would change the color of your newsletter sign up now button to something that is not part of the color scheme. Something bright that grabs the eye as being different from the rest of the page.
Also "Sign Up Now" may not be the best call to action. It makes the reader think they may have to commit to something and is not clear on what they get. It doesn't state the value. You might want to try something like
"Get money saving tips!"
gregg
MemberLooks good. But I would dump the top right nav bar.
gregg
MemberThink it would look better without the wood background and without the slider.

MemberIn your newsletter subscribe box "to day" should be today.
