In case it helps someone. I couldn't override the padding in that location only so I did this: http://www.studiopress.community/topic/full-width-header-daily-dish/
January 26, 2016 at 4:41 pm in reply to: Eliminate padding on sides of menu bar – Daily Dish #177627Emma1202ParticipantThat makes sense of course. The site is 1200px but I have 60px on either side for the .site-container which brings it down to 1080px wide.
Clearly, I don't want to take out the padding for the whole site container. Can I take out the .site-container padding JUST for the navigation bar and the header? Is that possible?
Or can I override the padding in that location only?TIA
EmmaEmma1202ParticipantThanks! That explains it.
And thank you for your suggestion about SEO. To be honest wrapping the text in schema.org markup and aligning the images side by side to recreate the original header is above my pay-grade skills wise. I know it would be better, but I wouldn't know how to do that I'm afraid.
Regarding the Header and the navigation bar going 1200px across, is there a way to accomplish that?
Emma1202ParticipantThank you! It was as easy as that! 🙂
Emma1202ParticipantThank you! I also found out that Foobox does have that capability.
Emma1202ParticipantAfter I opened a ticket, I ended up doing just what Nutsandbolts suggested. I backed up my site, went to the Genesis tab, exported all my settings so I could import them back up once I activated Prose 1.5.2, and I made a manual record of my Prose design settings just in case. Clearly, I'm slightly paranoid, but I wanted to be sure I could restore the site's look. (I hadn't touched the CSS which made it easier) . When I uploaded the zip file for Prose 1.5.2, activated it, it worked great and the look remained the same.
Emma1202ParticipantEwleong - What I ended up doing is restoring my site to the way it was prior to the updates (Bluehost was super helpful and since we were on the phone already, they just restored it on the spot to the way it was that day at 4am). I then did any updates minus the Prose theme update.
Nutsandbolts, thank you so much for your help.
Emma1202ParticipantThank you so much! I'll check for malware. So even though I have Prose 1.0 (and the latest genesis framework), and Prose 1.5.2 exists, I never update Prose to the newer version? I never realized that.
Emma1202ParticipantThank you! I'm still a bit uncertain on how to change the CSS. How would I make the blackish background extend lower the whole 250px of the header and the cream band go back to the initial size (15 px maybe?) below that?
Emma1202ParticipantI realize this thread is old, but I have a quick question directly related to the original question.
I have changed my function.php file to accommodate the size of my header (960x250) and changed the css file to also allow for 250px height, but the cream/grey colored band just above the navigation bar is now much much taller as well.
What line of the CSS file do I need to alter to bring that band back down to 15 or 20px or eliminate it all together?
Here is a screenshot of my problem: http://raleighheatingandairrepair.com/resizing-header-issues/

April 26, 2013 at 2:54 pm in reply to: Comment input box and submit button not visible in Chrome #37933Emma1202ParticipantI am using Genesis Simple Comments so I could make the Submit button say "Post your testimonial" .
April 26, 2013 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Comment input box and submit button not visible in Chrome #37920Emma1202ParticipantNo, under "share your own experience" --below the 3 reviews-- (in Safari) there is a text input box and  below that a submit button that reads "Post your testimonial".  But on Chrome, all I see is "share your own experience" and below that, a blank space.
Emma1202ParticipantSomehow, it loaded during the night.  Problem solved!  🙂

Emma1202ParticipantThank you!
Emma1202ParticipantFound it 🙂  Thank you.  Emma
Emma1202ParticipantThank you! Â Do I access my "function.php" via the stylesheet? or do I need to go elsewhere? Â (sorry if that sounds very ignorant --I'm very new at this).
