eddieParticipant
The secret to getting your answers is asking... because I always seem to figure it out after asking.
I simply added the following to my functions.php
add_action( 'genesis_header', 'dark_mode_toggle' ); function dark_mode_toggle(){ echo do_shortcode('[dark-mode-toggle]');; }
Note: I did have to style it by floating it to the right and padding it a bit... but it works great.
eddieParticipantIt is checked. Weird.
eddieParticipantThanks for helping me here. I think in my haste last night and this morning, I communicated poorly.
This page shows the what I'm working on. I simply wish to remove the bottom border on any linked image within the post.
However, any standard text hyperlinks should still keep the bottom border.
eddieParticipantYes, but that removes it from the text as well. I want it on text, not images.
I've tried
`.entry-content a img {
border-bottom: 0;
}'But that doesn't seem to work either. I think I've tried everything except the right thing 😉
eddieParticipantWell heck, I sure didn't see that one coming. Thanks Victor.
eddieParticipantI like that, considerably more clean. Thanks.
eddieParticipantI'm going to take a couple of guesses for you to take a look at. Hard to say since this is probably a server configuration issue.
- I noticed your css is pointing to http and not https. Could be how you are redirecting http traffic. Look into your .htaccess file and/or your nginx config
- I see you are using cloudfare... check your configuration
eddieParticipantThanks Victor, but I've read that, and every other tutorial in existence I think. I don't believe this is a me training issue any longer. I get it. I may have some syntax wrong or something, but I get how it works.
I've actually disabled every plugin and reverted to the genesis example child and I still can't get the grid to function. I've opened a support ticket. I can confidentlty say I've exhausted all other avenues. Time for some experts to look under the curtain.
eddieParticipantI truly don't know what I could be missing here. https://samurai.io/journal
eddieParticipantThat didn't work, unfortunately. I will be going through Bill's tutorial again later, but I hope to get this working first since it seems fundamental.
eddieParticipantHonestly, that depends on how they have it configured and what access you have. Pretty easy to do it yourself with a hosted environment that you have to ssh. In a *nix environment, you create a CSR, configure your available-sites in Apache, point it to your cert and you are rocking with a secure site. Yes, I oversimplified that, but there are a ton of tutorials out there that will walk you through it.
As for the redirect method, simply create a .htaccess file. I wouldn't suggest it for a secure shopping experience, though.
eddieParticipantActually, to make it clear...
https://samurai.io - This is the front-page... no changes required.
https://samurai.io/journal - this is the blog that I want to have a grid.So, how and where do I create a template for the blog page?
eddieParticipantI'm sorry I'm explaining this so poorly. The code is moot because it never even reads the code. The archive.php, page-archive.php, or anything.php never seems to be used as a template.
Is this because front-page.php appears to take priority over any archive pages? Based on the WordPress file type hierarchy.
eddieParticipantIt sure is and I have even played with its formatting. I'm looking to create a new page called /journal that also has a grid loop. This page should be a grid that allows for 3 or 4 columns, different meta, and a more bloggy or portfolio feel. What should this page be called? According to the WordPress file type hierarchy, I believe it should be archive.php. Well, this is what I have used with other templates.
eddieParticipantYep, the plan is to use the Genesis grid.
In that same tutorial it mentions home.php or front-page.php. Since it is a separate page, I have tried archive.php, page-archive.php even page-journal since that is the slug. Nadda. I'm using the minimum-pro theme.
I'm sure I'm missing something very simple. Thank you for your response.
eddieParticipantThat certainly did the trick. I will keep playing with it until I can tweak the nav menus and such. Very cool.
eddieParticipantThank you so much, I will play with this later tonight to see what I get. Thanks again!
eddieParticipantWhat he said. Cheap and easy. I'm actually on the beta program for letsencrypt.org and plan on testing next weekend. It is a different approach, but one that I appreciate as a tinfoil hat wearing kind of guy.
As for the redirect question. Yes, it is easy. I currently redirect all my shorturl traffic to my primary domain without issue. Only a couple of lines if on the same host.
eddieParticipantThat worked. Even better, I've learned a little more about CSS. Thank you very much for your help and patience.
eddieParticipantI'm using minimum pro. I've massaged the metadata and decided to use an unordered list to display. Also, I've placed this at the end of style.css.
That doesn't seem to remove the text-decoration either. Oddly enough, the nav menus don't have text-decoration. http://smri.io/kpdh
