Did you put in the code with the dimensions:
add_theme_support( ‘genesis-custom-header’, array(‘width’ => 1037, ‘height’ => 384 ) );
When you selected the the graphic on the theme Header page, did it show up in the preview box?
devParticipantI've used the Gen Responsive Slider on Legacy on a client site (http://newparadigmsolutions.org/ ) so I know it works. Do you have the box saying how many slides to show set correctly (to more than 1!!)
You might want to try the Soliloquy slider which I find a lot easier to set up than the Gen slider and it has lots of added features. (No relation to the company, just a customer.)

devParticipantCreate another widget area on the homepage and use the Featured Posts widget. I'm sure you can find a tutorial on how to do it.
To be honest, you should use a different theme. Modern Portfolio is designed to be... um... a portfolio homepage, not a blog.
Al
devParticipantI've seen this before. For some reason, widget areas have issues with simple formatting from featured pages. I suggest you use a Text Widget (with <br><br> if necessary) and an href link to the real page.
Al
devParticipantMaybe like this... will change for all pages:
#content .post, #content .page {
background: #B6BECE;
}Al
devParticipantdevParticipantThis is how I do it. There might be a better/easier way:
1. Determine the exact pixel dimensions of your graphic logo. Say it is 385 wide by 100 tall.
2. Add this to end of functions.php of your theme:
add_theme_support( 'genesis-custom-header', array('width' => 385,
'height' => 100
) );
3. Go to Appearance, Header and choose logo file to upload .
4. Uncheck the "Show text" box at bottom.
That should do it.
devParticipantIn CSS:
#header {
margin-top: 20px;
}Add more or less depending on how much space you want.

Try the above CSS override in your child theme CSS (at end of file) and see if that fixes the problem.
It might cause other issues so make sure you test it on all your pages.

http://www.NewMediaWebsiteDesign.comdevParticipantIgnore above... I was using the wrong graphic-size in the the plugin. When I replaced it with the "full size" it worked fine. The logo on the ipad was about same size as on the iMac.
However, when we created a 2x version as suggested in link in post above the plugin made the logo stretch across the entire iPad... very nice.
devParticipantI'm having a problem with our logo being fuzzy on an iPad 3 with retina display. (www.newmediawebsitedesign.com). Am using the Responsive Header plugin. I think I need to follow the instructions here:
http://line25.com/tutorials/how-to-create-retina-graphics-for-your-web-designs
Anyone have any tips on this issue?
devParticipantSOLVED!
Who is the dumbest web guy on the planet? I'm raising my hand here! Nick wrote me and said to simply paste in the URL of the logo-graphic (from Media Lib) and click "save." Worked just fine. I never would have thought about bypassing the WP Thickbox media loader logic. I figured that it did something special to the graphic. It doesn't. It just finds the URL... which anyone can get from the Media Library!
Man, am I stupid or what?
(Oh, he said the issue might be a javascript conflict between his plugin and the theme.)
Thanks, Nick. You da man!! (And I'm the idiot!)
devParticipantre: http://newparadigmsolutions.org/
I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to find out why Nick's Responsive Header plugin does not work on one client's server. I am now not sure it is the plugin. It may be the server or their install of WP... so I wanted to ask if anyone might have a clue.
Here is the process:
When I click the 'upload' button I get the media loader box, asking me to choose an image... same one you get when you insert a pix into a page... standard WP code. (The plugin puts in a button saying "I want this for my logo.") When I navigate and choose an image and click the button I go back to the plugin page.. but there is no URL in the text box... it is as if nothing happened.
I've been contact with the developer of the Appfinite Legacy theme (nice man... good service... we like him and his themes a lot) and he says it works for him on his site with Legacy.
So I'm thinking that it may have something to do with either file ownership or permissions. I looked on the client site via FTP and all files are owned by the user except the uploads folder with is owned by Apache's "nobody." I don't see that being an issue but I don't have anything to compare it to. On our site we run under special CGI script that lets us own all files (we have a dedicated server with pair.com)
What I've tried:
-I deactivated all other plugins... only using the Gen slider on that site anyway.
- I also tried plugin with different images... no change
- I added define/concatenate scripts in wp-config... no change.
- I checked on permissions of the plugins javascript files... look fine.
- I left a message on Nick the Geeks board but my comments are still "waiting for moderation."
- I reinstalled the plugin, deactivated and re-activated... no change.
So perhaps some of you who might know the internals of WP would be willing to suggest some ideas on why this plugin is not working. There has to be a reason... but I'm stumped so I'm looking for ideas from all of you.
Thanks.
devParticipantMaybe I spoke too soon. The plugin worked fine for a site with the Optimal theme but I can't get it to work with a site with the Legacy theme. When I try to "upload" a .png file from the Media Library... nothing shows up in the text box... it is as if nothing happened. I even tried to upload a .jpg from my local machine... and nothing. Makes no sense to me. I checked permissions, etc. (I set the plugin files and dirs to 777 to test.) No errors are thrown... it just looks as if nothing happens. If a file is already in Media Lib, why does the plugin not "register" it?
I left a post on Nick's site so maybe he can figure it out.
Maybe someone here has a clue?
For this to work on a server with one Genesis theme and on another sever http://newparadigmsolutions.org/ with a different Genesis theme has me puzzled.
Thanks.
devParticipantThank you. I put my already uploaded logo from Media Lib into this plugin (in the 769xlogo spot) and now it is responsive. I don't know what the other sections are for but it worked great on my iPhone. This is the link.
Again, thank you for posting this. You did a good service. Those of us who are new to this platform value your many contributions... just so you know that.
devParticipantMaybe add the !important parm:
#title a, #title a:hover, #description {
color: #333333 !important;
}devParticipantThank you , Anitac for the above. Very useful indeed.
I was wondering if maybe you know of a shortcode plugin or maybe some HTML/CSS (like Mr. Gardner uses in links above) that does a drop-down box, like you often see on FAQs... like this: http://www.newmediawebsitedesign.com/wp/themes/
This uses a built-in Elegant shortcode that comes with their themes. What do Studio Press users suggest?
Thanks.
devParticipantI don't understand the question. Maybe if you use some screen shots here and point out what you have and what you want it might be helpful.
April 20, 2013 at 2:15 pm in reply to: Read-more works on homepage footer, not on regular page. #36603devParticipantI tried same thing with the Agency (ver 2.0, Studio Press) theme and same thing happens. Maybe it is a Genesis 1.9.2 bug? I turned off ALL plugins just in case.
I'll put in a support ticket and maybe they will let me know if this is a known issue?
March 15, 2013 at 9:02 am in reply to: Legacy Theme: Can I add a 4th box (widget) on homepage? #27147devParticipantYes. This was very easy. I just duplicated and made minor changes to the code that had for the first 3 boxes in the functions.php file:
genesis_register_sidebar( array(
'id' => 'home-bottom-4',
'name' => __( 'Home Bottom#4', 'legacy' ),
'description' => __( 'This is the fourth column of the middle section of the homepage.', 'legacy' ),
) );I then duplicated some code and changed it in home.php
if ( is_active_sidebar( 'home-bottom-4' ) ) {
echo '<div class="home-bottom-4">';
dynamic_sidebar( 'home-bottom-4' );
echo '</div><!-- end .home-bottom-4 -->';
}Finally, I made each of the boxes smaller in style.css
.home-bottom-1,
.home-bottom-2,
.home-bottom-3 {
float: left;
margin: 0 20px 0 0;
width: 225px;
}.home-bottom-4 {
float: right;
width: 225px;
}Here is the site... see that there are now 4 boxes .... still a work in progress... waiting for client to provide content: http://newparadigmsolutions.org/wp/
