MemberThank you again, Victor, for your assistance!
Using my host's file manager, I commented out the active line, and the header widget was back. Now, I am going to research how to restore the tagline under the site title, and how to right-justify that widget.
@kandycej - I hope you find this useful too.

MemberThank you so much, Victor!
I had used a plugin called Child Theme Configurator, which made a copy of the Genesis Sample theme when I first installed it several months ago. That copy, clearly, did not get updated.
I've deleted that old copy, uploaded Genesis Sample 3.0.1 and am now working on tweaking things up again.CYGeeker
MemberMany thanks, Mike B2.
I will work on this tomorrow or the next day, and the information you provided will help me greatly! Much appreciated.CYGeeker
MemberFortunately, I'm in staging mode... so I can bear the pain.
Still seems very strange - as I used Gutenberg to create all three pages, and only the home page is not displaying header / menu.CYGeeker
MemberThanks for the suggestion, Anita.
Opening the page in the classic editor, it still does not show the header or the menu.LOL - I also got a bitter taste of what happens when you use the Gutenberg plug-in and then try to revert to the classic editor. I guess the plug-in is not the actual WP 5.0 version we are waiting for.

MemberOnce again, Victor, your advice is golden.
Thank you,

MemberOops... never mind 🙂
I see that they reference the "After Header" menu as displaying below the 1st Home Page widget.

MemberThank you, Victor. I appreciate your quick response to my query.
What I don't understand is that then the demo page is showing 6 widget areas on the home page, but the AuthorPro theme only allows for 5 Front Page widgets.
In the Studio press documentation on setting up the Front Page, there is no reference made to adding a secondary menu.
