    In case anyone else encounters this thread and is looking to solve it, I used this in the style.css get borders around the primary content area:

    .site-container {
            width: 70%;
            display: table;
            margin: 0 auto;
            -webkit-box-shadow: 3px 0 3px 3px #B8B8B8,
                                -3px 0 3px 3px #B8B8B8;
            box-shadow: 3px 0 3px 3px #B8B8B8,
                        -3px 0 3px 3px #B8B8B8;
    }

    So, I added this to the style.css:

    .site-header {
    background-image: url('/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/headerimage.png');
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    background-position:center;
    }

    Now the image is there, but it's stuffed up behind the top menu bar. I can't seem to find the CSS that's causing that to happen. Anyone have any ideas?

    News Pro is too far from the site I'm trying to build, design wise, but thanks for the assistance with centering the menu!
