ParticipantWorked up the widget option (using that tutorial combined with another one because I was getting errors), but would still like to know about the category option if anyone has thoughts on that. Thanks.

ParticipantFor the first option, that's a simple fix but I wouldn't want to have to have "category" in the URL heading to the blog.
So instead of:
http://www.mysite.com/category/blog/I'd want
http://www.mysite.com/blog/Is that possible?

ParticipantReply from support about this:
You could create a category called 'blog' and then tag all your posts with that category. Then you can edit that category to add a title and content that will show at the top of that category page.
I also found this tutorial that you can try (you will want to make sure you are not selecting a static page with a post page under the customizers 'homepage settings', instead you can check the latest post): https://wpsites.net/web-design/add-content-before-posts-blog-page-only/
Any thoughts on those options? Thanks.

ParticipantI made changes via Inspect Element and they worked fine.
I adjusted .avatar (not .avator) to give a border-radius of 50% and it made the image round. Were you spelling it correctly?
I added background-color, margin, and padding to .postauthor (not .author-box) and it adjusted that as well. I don't see author-box actually being used within the HTML itself -- perhaps that's the issue here? Either update the HTML if author-box is supposed to be in there, or use the other class?
(Depending on how it looks in your revisions, you might want to adjust the right margin for .avatar so the text isn't right on top of the image.)
Hope that helps -- please update to let us know if your issue was solved/if you need further assistance.

ParticipantWith some help from another group, figured out I was doing everything right with this -- just hadn't gone in and saved the permalinks after making these changes.
