Appears to be related to this getting a 403 on this request:

wss://public-api.wordpress.com/pinghub/wpcom/me/newest-note-data

I disabled JetPack, which it's been suggested isrelated, but no joy.

I'm trying to keep my changes separate so I can use any updated child themes. My theme is only lightly customized.
