MemberOf course the other main problem is how to get an image in a post to show up as both a featured image once it is no longer in the "featured post" section, AND in the body of the post itself without there being a duplicate image when the post is in the featured post section.
Can anyone help clarify how this works? Thanks.

MemberThanks for helping to think this through, Dorian.
The main problem is that the Featured Posts (the first two on the front page) are duplicating any image that comes into the post via upload. Is there a reason for this?
I don't know what this idea of an "image attachment page" is about, and why it is different on a post than it is on a page, but that's just a strange additional detail (as is the image not linking to a url - why should it matter whether a url is internal to your site or not? These things are beyond me :-). The main issue is not being able to upload images directly into a post without them being duplicated.

MemberSorry, I meant to say I'm using the "Generate" theme. And I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong place.

MemberI have been building websites professionally for the last 10 years. Mostly html, but I did have a short flirtation with WordPress in 2006, before deciding it was too much trouble for my clients to maintain (none of them could have managed the updates, which were manual then) and I didn't want to manage, just design.
I  started using WordPress again a little over a year ago, and now use it almost exclusively. I do not use Genesis as a rule - one of my clients really liked the Generate theme and wanted me to use it, so I built his site with it. It has not been the easiest theme I've ever worked with, I must admit. đŸ˜‰ But I love WordPress, and am certainly curious to know more about Genesis as a framework.
