Can you post a link to your site? These things would be easy to find using Firebug. I can help if your site is on a live server

JeremyMemberSpend 15 minutes learning how to use Firebug and you will not only find all those answers within the 15 minutes... you will have picked up a new skill for life 🙂

JeremyMemberThat's a nice looking and very minimalist website.
You don't really need any StudioPress theme in particular as it's really only two static pages.I would recommend starting with the genesis sample child theme. Not using the widget sidbar or the primary or secondary nav and just adding a link to the two pages in the header right widget area.
Create a static homepage and select it under Settings > Readings > A static Front Page
As you mentioned you could use the Media Grid plugin for your portfolio front page and then have a full width second page.

JeremyMemberJeremyMemberHi Moxie Girl,
On line 1150 try this...
input[type="button"], input[type="submit"], #home-slider a.more-link {
background: transparent url(http://www.demo.websparklers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/leaf-dagreen.png) center 0px no-repeat;
border: 0px solid #FFFFFF;
bottom: -21px;
display: block;
text-indent: -9999px;
height: 75px;
margin-bottom: x;
margin-bottom: -100px;
right: 0;
width: 85px;
text-transform: capitalize;
}Then play around with the padding on the form

JeremyMemberYou could add a search link in your top menu and when clicked it can take users to a page with a search box visible.
To achieve this either create a custom page template or use a plugin like Widgets on Pages
I also recommend using a plugin that provides a better search option than the default WordPress option. Relevanssi gets good reviews.
Hope that helps

July 9, 2013 at 5:49 pm in reply to: Minimum Theme: How do I remove the "subscribe" section from a page or pages? #50025JeremyMemberTo remove the whole section edit function.php and remove the following lines of code....
/** Add the page title section */
add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'minimum_page_title' );
function minimum_page_title() {
require_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/page-title.php' );
}To edit the "subscribe" section look at the code in page-title.php

JeremyMemberThe reason you are having issues with the rounding of corners, is the wrap on line 164 applies to the length of the page from header to footer.
Thus if you add background:#fff there as you currently have, this white background sits beneath the other element e.g. slider, inner and footer. Thus trying to add a border radius to the main wrap does nada as the background color you have applied to the header or footer is covering the main wrap white backgorund.Try removing background: #fff on line 164 and you will see what I mean.
To join the id="inner" and id="footer-widgets" into one white block with rounded corners you might be better off removing the margins applied to these sections, adjusting the padding to your liking and then adding the border-radius-top and border-radius-bottom to get the rounded corners effect.
🙂

JeremyMemberHi Lenz,
You are adding the menu to the primary navigation section.
Instead after creating your menu go to widgets. Drag the custom menu widget to the header right section.
This will get it in the place you want.

JeremyMemberHi Moxiegirl,
To remove the white triangle delete the code below around line 274
-moz-border-radius: 5px;
-webkit-border-radius: 5px;
border-radius: 5px;Then change the footer background color by adding a background around line 1329
background: #111;You can round any element by adding a border radius. Not 100% sure which white section you are referring to. Are you trying to round the responsive slider?
Hope that helps 🙂

July 3, 2013 at 6:21 pm in reply to: Responsive breakpoints work on desktop but on on small devices #49099JeremyMemberCheck it out on my iPhone5. The site is responsive and the CSS3 media queries (breakpoints) are working.
I suggest you change the 1,2,3,4 section on the homepage as it's the only part not responding well.

JeremyMemberStyle the .footer-widgets similar to your header and add max-width
e.g. style.css line 1196
add...
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
max-width: 1152px;🙂

JeremyMemberHi Nicole,
I don't think you have to worry about Google penalising non responsive sites in the short term. Many high profile websites still don't have mobile optimised versions. As long as you are producing quality content that people enjoy, link to and share then you shouldn't concern yourself.
Saying that from a user experience point of view I am a big fan of responsive web design and this is more of a reason in my opinion for you to consider the upgrade. I can't speak for the designer of the Modern Blogger theme about her plans for her theme, however I can give a few tips.
1) If you are comfortable editing CSS or are willing to learn then yes you can do it yourself. As with most things there are many tutorials that will take you through the process. e.g. Smashing Mag or Fresh til soiled The good thing about this is it will allow you to make modification in the future. However if you have minimal experience now with CSS then this may not be worth your time and headache learning.
2) Another option is to choose and purchase a similar WordPress theme that is already responsive. You then won't have to edit the code and your site may just need a few presentation tweaks to get it looking great once again. I can't see your site so it's hard to give recommendations but StudioPress have many great responsive themes like magazine
3) Finally it may be worth paying someone to do it for you. For someone that know what they are doing it won't take long and this will ensure you end up with a responsive site you are 100% happy with.
Good luck with the conversion.

JeremyMemberTry adding this to your style.css
.entry-title {display:none;}
Hope that helps 🙂

JeremyMemberLooking good. One bit of feedback I'm not a big fan of the secondary menu directly under the primary menu. Especially since both only stretch to about half the screen width on a desktop screen. Have you tried only one navigation menu?

JeremyMemberHere is a quick fix.
CSS line 400 add minus 19px...
#nav {
margin-bottom: -19px
}

JeremyMemberHi,
Your site looks quite plan which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps you can explore one of the newer genesis responsive child themes and use that as a basis for a design you like.Your colors are fine, I think better use of quality images would enhance visual impact. Also consider using a serif font in heading and content to match the serif font used in your logo.
But most importantly above design, you need more content on your site. An expensive awesome design isn't going to hide the fact that the blog has only been updated with 3 posts in 3 years.
Hope that helps.
Jeremy

JeremyMemberHi Debs,
View the code of each page/post and try deleting the width and height attached to each image. That should fix your responsive issue.
If that doesn't work post a link to your site and I'll help you out.
Jeremy.

April 13, 2013 at 12:38 am in reply to: delete 'subscribe now' button on MInimum theme homepage #35189JeremyMemberAny changes to the "subscribe now" button are via page-title.php
It appears like you don't want to use the page-title section at all in your design.
If that's the case you can delete it via function.php by deleting this part....
/** Add the page title section */
add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'minimum_page_title' );
function minimum_page_title() {
require_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/page-title.php' );
}
