    I have changed the woocommerce code to change positions of the short and long descriptions layouts but every time there is an update I have to redo the code. I wonder if there is a place I can put the code so that it is safe and won't be overwritten each time? They are both php files.

    There is a template directory within the WooCommerce plugin directory. Those templates can be copied to your theme directory and modified. They will override WooCommerce. Here are the instructions on the WooCommerce site: http://docs.woothemes.com/document/template-structure/
