    Hi all, just trying to convert a website to WP. Installed OK, but I cannot download any plugins.

    This is the error message I get when I try:

    Download failed. SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK

    Any ideas what I have to do to fix this, and if so, where I get the file to fix?

    Thanks much.

    Did you install this on a Network or Multisite?

    Hi there. Nope, it's a stand alone site.

    Anita, thank you. I was unable to find anything on this issue when I searched prior to my post.

    My ISP referred me to a WP support blog which says that if I add the following to my wp-config.php file, it will resolve the issue.
    ___________________________
    <?php
    add_filter('https_ssl_verify', '__return_false');
    add_filter('https_local_ssl_verify', '__return_false');
    ___________________________
    I am embarrassed to say that I have not tried this yet, as I have not been able to locate the wp-config.php file in any of the WP directories on my server.

    Thoughts?

    I meant to include this too:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/38-upgrade-network-ssl-fail

    This is the URL of the WP support note.

    Use your FTP application (Filezilla) or the File Manager to your host. Browse to your main folder - the wp-config.php file is in there - not your theme folder. It is a part of the WP CORE files, but it's okay for you to modify it. Make a backup before you proceed.

    Anita, thanks...

    Unfortunately when I add this to the wp-config.php file
    _____________
    <?php
    add_filter(‘https_ssl_verify’, ‘__return_false’);
    add_filter(‘https_local_ssl_verify’, ‘__return_false’);
    __________________

    and upload it, I get a parse error on line 92, which is the line with this part of the code: <?php

    If I remove just that line and leave the other two, I get an error message that there are too many redirects and the plugin download has failed.

    Don't know where to turn with this now.

    I would post your issues over on that link on WordPress.org. I am not familiar with the issue. You'll have better luck there.

    Turns out that after them telling me to fix it, it was a server side error all along, and the ISP has now corrected it.

    Thanks to all for the help.
