    Hi,

I was just wondering which theme I should buy that can be altered to look similar to this site http://www.alexinwanderland.com.
Im pretty new to blogging but I'm eager to learn.

I especially like how new posts are shown on the main page. The small detail where the date is displayed in each post makes it look nice and is that hard to do? I mean the small flag thingy that hangs down for instance.

Same with the read more button, how do you make your own buttons in a easy way if you already designed them in photoshop for instance?

Which plugins should I buy to make those changes?
    Any more good tips?

    Thanks

    Dennis

If you download the plugin for firefox called 'firebug'. You can then inspect any element on somebody's site and see how things were created. For example.. from looking at that URL and using firebug I see that the designer has wrapped the post date in a div called "date-container" and then has put a background behind it which is just a png image of a flag shape.

The image the designer used is here.. http://alexinwanderland.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/ribbon.png

Everything else on the page is just as easy to find out how things were done. If you're looking at doing this type of customization, you probably want to start learn the basics of css.

The question of which theme to buy is a hard one, as either way you would have a fair bit of customization to do to get these little details you want. You could make this site from the Genesis Sample theme if you know what you're doing.

Also, the way that new posts are shown on the home page. That is something which can be done on any theme. You can just change the settings in Dashboard > Settings > Reading and change 'Front page displays' to 'Your latest posts'.

Such customization required at-least intermediate level of css and Genesis knowledge. You can start learning by exploring this forum, google search for Genesis specific blogs or just hire a Genesis developer for custom layout work.
