I have to try something other than the Mailchimp option since our email subscriber list grew stale due to a lack of email sends during a break. We are having no luck with getting them to resubscribe using our gmail so figured we'd try to begin fresh with a new plugin and give the subscribers the option of opting out upon receiving our next blog post sent.
What are the best options?
We have Genesis E News Extended plugin installed and good to go...Thanks in advance for your opinions/wisdom.

but have you tried"Easy Newsletter Signups"
April 4, 2018 at 7:34 pm #218658Claire-ityParticipantThanks for the suggestion,I appreciate it. : ) I had not heard of that plugin.
Though the rating is good, the amount of people using it is really low. Curious to know what to expect. They call it "lightweight" and I wonder will it underperform in some way.
What are the most popular newsletter plugins for Genesis users, I wonder? The failsafe, go-to ones...
April 10, 2018 at 2:11 am #218805david369MemberI'm also looking for a good newsletter plugin compatible with Genesis. I've never used one before and would appreciate a nudge in the right direction. I looked at "Easy Newsletter Signups" and it may be ok but there was only one review and 100 or so users. Is there something a little more mainstream and hopefully free for low volume users?

You still need to use a mailing list service. The plugins are not the ones that help you send mail to your mailing list. They mostly give an easy to use signup box when you do not want to paste in the signup code from your mailing list provider.
Our Enews plugin is just to make this easier for people. It does nothing to actually manage a list. That is what you use a mailing list provider for.

April 14, 2018 at 2:36 pm #218973Claire-ityParticipantThanks for the clarification regarding the fact that the subscription plugins (like E News Extended) are different from the services we use to actually send the newsletter to our subscribers (Mailchimp etc). I am looking for several recommendations of the most dependable, free (or pay one time without further charges) replacement for Mailchimp.
Please let me know if you've tried any that you are comfortable recommending.
Thanks in advance!

April 19, 2018 at 11:47 am #219117Claire-ityParticipantThanks to you both for your recommendations but I am not looking for a subscriber plugin, I am looking for a good email marketing system.
I will use ENews Extended plugin to collect the subscribers onto a list to send but I now need recommendations for the best email marketing service (besides just Mailchimp and Constant Contact pay to play style). I need an email marketing service to send my newsletter from my WordPress blog.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
May 17, 2018 at 7:49 am #219997pressdeamonParticipantI purchased ArpReach many years ago (one-time fee, lifetime license) and moved all my lists from Aweber to it (that was when Aweber decided to raise their fees tenfold overnight). This was the best thing I've done.
I haven't paid for any list management service for years, so I guess you can count this as "free". However, it requires some knowledge of php, databases, and general troubleshooting, as things break often and you have limited support (or none at all depending on the issue). You also need to be running your own server (at least VPS) because all emails will be going through your server (you would get yourself banned on a shared server).
You can use any plugin to collect visitors email addresses from your WP sites. On my Genesis sites, I only use ENews Extended (no reason to use anything else). If you're a complete newbie and you're afraid you won't be able to install or troubleshoot a php script running on your own server, then I guess something like Aweber or Constant Contact would be enough. Now, you can't really find anything free like you're expecting. Free services - if there are any - are probably abused by spammers and your emails would never reach your subscribers. Also, if you decide to go this route, read all the fine print. Services like MailChimp are very picky and HATE affiliate marketers and even people who sell digital goods.
