I posted this on the wordpress.org support forum, but since I am using Prose on Genesis, they referred me here. This is what I posted:

After 4.4 upgrade the Visual editor on my website does not work. I turned off all plugins, which did not work. I changed the theme to Twenty Fifteen, that didn't help either.

When I go to a post or a page, I just get a blank window where the visual editor is supposed to be. There are no buttons and there is no text in the window. The

"Disable the visual editor when writing" is unchecked. The tabs for "Visual" and "Text" are there, but they don't work. You can't switch to "Text" and edit in html.

HOWEVER: when I check "Disable the visual editor when writing" in my user profile, I am able to edit posts in the html text editor.

Is there a way to fix this? I would like to be able to use the Visual Editor.

What I have done further: I replaced the wp-includes/js/tinymce folder with the same folder from a downloaded version of WordPress 4.4. That didn't help

I called my host tech support to see if they have some antivirus software running on the server that is interfering with it. They haven't gotten back to me yet.

If you deactivate the Prose child theme, and activate one of the default WordPress themes, does it resolve your issue? If not, then it's not a theme (or Genesis) related issue.
