Hello!
I thought I had found a solution for my client, but they want something that looks like the lines of https://waltherfarms.com/ for a video intro/slider.
I can't quite figure out which plugin is being used. Using FireBug, it says "revslider" but looking at the WP plugin catalog there's a few that come up for that.
My bigger question is, could I implement something like that in the Front Page 1 spot, and if so, any recommendations on sliders?
Thanks!

Have you requested your free website audit yet?February 16, 2017 at 4:26 pm #201343darciusrexMemberThanks for the quick reply, Victor! Anybody know how well it plays with Digital Pro or Genesis child themes in general?
February 17, 2017 at 6:10 am #201373Brad DaltonParticipantDid you want a slideshow or video background for front page 1 widget in Digital Pro?
February 17, 2017 at 9:18 am #201381darciusrexMemberIf a video background could go in that widget area, that'd be perfect! I've tried various background widgets and, from what I could see, none of them had any way to put it into a widget on the homepage. So if there is a way to run a video background in the front page 1 widget, I'd love see what it is. I've learned a lot in the last few months but not enough to figure that one out.

February 20, 2017 at 4:39 pm #201676darciusrexMemberHi Brad,
I'm going to run that by my client and see if that's what he's looking for. The best thing you showed in your example is how easy it shrinks to be completely responsive, which works better than what I'm seeing with the plugins.
I do have a couple of questions though - is this something you think a knucklehead like me can actually do through a tutorial? And then what type of format would the video have to be in? The client has given .mov files.
Thanks!

March 3, 2017 at 11:58 am #202404darciusrexMemberHi etrnluv!
I went ahead and it works great on desktop. You can see it at http://sproule.bar40media.com/. The poster shows up until the video loads and then goes into autoplay. On my laptop and on my big monitor, it adjusts just like Brad planned it to.
My only problem is on mobile devices. The various mobile emulators show it working, but when I check on actual Apple and Android devices, I get a mixed bag. On actual Apple devices, I get the play button over the poster with no ability to play it. On actual Android, I get the poster with no play button.
I'm messing with it as we speak, so hopefully I'll either figure out how to get it play when the button is hit or to get the play button to disappear from Apple devices!
March 3, 2017 at 7:33 pm #202426Brad DaltonParticipant1. I didn't get any poster as i didn't add any to the video HTML and the widget background image never loaded once o replaced it with the video.
2. You can remove the widget background image very easily.
Question : What mobile emulator are you using?
Also note, installation support is included.
Which actual Apple and Android devices isn't your video playing on because when i test, the video auto plays on all Apple devices.
March 3, 2017 at 7:45 pm #202427Brad DaltonParticipantThis could be related to the problems you experienced previously with CSS changes to your theme and 3rd party plugins like W3 Total Cache.
Based on my testing in a fresh copy of Digital Pro, there is no problem with the video auto playing on any device nor has anyone else using this solution on any theme experienced any issues however i am happy to work with you on these issues related to your site.
March 4, 2017 at 3:30 am #202440Brad DaltonParticipantI also spent some time testing the solution on dozens of different mobile devices on a fresh copy of the Digital Pro theme.
There is no play button for auto play.
Where are you hosting the video?
March 17, 2017 at 9:24 am #203239darciusrexMemberHi Brad - sorry for the lag in responses but it's been crazy here lately.
Anyways, the mobile emulators I have used are the ones included with Chrome's browser, I've been using the mobile browser emulator browser extension by Diorama, the Semalt responsive design tool and one other I can't remember the name of and can't find in my browser history.
As far as actual devices, I'm using my Samsung Galaxy S6, an old and laggy Asus Transformer tablet, my wife's Kindle Fire (not sure which build it is) and a friend's iPhone 6.
I'm getting no autoplay button on Android, but I am on iPhone (except in the emulators, where it plays).
Host is BlueHost for the test site and where it will go live.
I did try using the sample you sent me, and when I uploaded and activated that theme it did the same as the one I've been working on. So if it's working on the devices you're looking at, that leads me to believe you're on to something with it being a plugin (I'll have to see what getting rid of W3C cache does).
With all of that said, this thing works and it looks great! I got rid of the poster because I wanted continuity between the mobile version and the desktop version, plus the photo I was using was sooooo huge it was causing page load slag. I think you have a good fix here, Brad! It's just a matter of me implementing. 😛
March 17, 2017 at 9:33 am #203240Brad DaltonParticipantMarch 17, 2017 at 1:37 pm #203259darciusrexMemberHaving problems with a fresh upload of the theme - I renamed the .zip file so I wouldn't lose my changes I've made. Rookie mistake?

Wow! That's outstanding Brad. Nice work.
