Hello - I'm attempting to upload and embed a .mov file on a page on my site. It is almost 120mb. I can't upload it using the WordPress file uploader so I added it via FTP to my uploads folder. There were a few upload folders, all numbered, I added it to one that had a .pdf document already in it. The problem is that the URL to the .mov file does work, I get a 404. I can't figure out why. Any thoughts? Please let me know if you need more info - thanks in advance!! The file theoretically should be here http://www.jpdevelopmentcorp.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/clyde.mov

I have a couple of suggestions for you. You don't say how you are embedding the video. Mov files are a QuickTime format. If you are using the built-in WordPress video shortcode, it doesn't support .mov files. Supported files include mp4, m4v, webm, ogv, wmv, flv. . https://codex.wordpress.org/Video_Shortcode

The numbered directories in the upload folder area created by the media library. Since WordPress runs on Linux or Unix servers, file names are case sensitive. If you have even the slightest mistake in the url, you'll get the 404 error. Once you uploaded the file through FTP, did you add it to the media library? https://wordpress.org/plugins/add-from-server/

I use a lot of videos for the free WordPress training I offer on one of my sites. I never use the media library or the site's server for delivering video content. Video content, more than anything else, will slow down a site's performance when served from the same server as the site. Look into Amazon S3 or a CDN from which to serve your videos.
