Right now my site is basically down, so I need help quickly, please.

I just purchased the Genesis Framework Package. We have been using it for almost a decade but updates stopped arriving a year ago or so. After purchasing the package, I was trying to update the theme. There seemed to be no way to get the prompt within the WP admin area that a new version was available so I went to plan B, which is to use FTP to do the update from V2.x.x to 3.3.2. I backed up the Genesis folder on the site, so I have that tucked away, just in case. Then I used SmartFTP to copy the new genesis folder into the Themes folder - overwriting what was there. This went OK but when I looked at the site it doesn't have any of the theme attributes present. I'm using the Education child theme and never touched that folder. I have removed the cache on my browser. I cleared an SSO cache in WP. Site still looks this $ht. (see lwvaustin.org)

Is there some other step I need to do after copying all the Genesis files & folders? One place said "refresh you site" but I have no idea what that means.

    Thanks!

If you have an older XHTML theme, the 3.x versions of Genesis won't work with it. With older, incompatible themes, you wouldn't have received a prompt to update Genesis.

    Restore from a recent backup.

Victor: Thank you. I did find a blog that told about this conflict after I made this post. I did revert to the backup version.

I wish there had been better notification of this on the StudioPress website that I would have seen before making the purchase to upgrade. And maybe a sticky post in here about upgrading to 3.xx.

    Thanks!
