A friend of mine has Genesis 1.7 installed. This is a very old version which needs to be updated.

Can I just upload the new version of the Genesis Framework (2.1) and then activate the new version?

i.e. what is the best procedure here, without loosing widget content because of changing themes etc?

    Thanks in advance,
    Diane

You can update from the Genesis settings page.

    Thanks Brad,

The automatic update was disabled, so I didn't see the update. Now I do. 🙂

    One more question:
It indeed now says: 'You have installed version 1.7.1. Update to version 2.01.

So I understand that it doesn't 'hurt' to update in one go, from an very old version to the newest, and that Genesis will take care of doing a proper job, even though all these in-between-updates have not been updated?

Just want to be sure, don't want to mess up another person's site...

    Thanks!

    regarding that topic:
neither on the dashboard not on the Genesis-Theme-Settings I can find a button for updating the Framework.

    It's still "Version: 2.0.0-beta1"
    Automatic Updates are enabled.

    Thanks for any help!
