I've been researching this and am not finding answers. I want to feature an image on some posts or pages, but not others. I've finding a lot of code edits that apply to removing featured images to all, but not for some. Personally, I can't imagine why showing the feature image should be a default. Seems more practical to have that be the chosen option.

You can add conditional tags with specific post and page I.D's to the existing code in the functions file which adds the featured image. See line 117

    Or

You can use custom fields with the ACF plugin

    or

You can hand code the whole solution which took me several hours of work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sfQY5_KStg
