    Morning Nero,

The correct answer will depend on which theme you are using. I am also new to the Genesis framework but with the Metro theme at least, there is a widget that has an option you speak of. It is the Genesis featured widget. It allows you to set up feature articles on a page and customize how the feature article will look. One of the options allows you to set the post title and give it numerical limit to the amount of characters shown. Other options include what symbols you want to use to show the cut off. i.e. (...) and whether or not you want your title to link to the article. This is a widget plug-in so it should work in other themes. Hope that helps.

thanks for the reply, that's definitely a step in the right direction but not quite what I'm looking for. I need something site wide for all posts not limited to just a widget area
