I was trying to add an image to a post and the media library would not come up. So I tried to troubleshoot. First, all of my software is up to date for WordPress, themes, and plugins. Next, I deactivated all of my plug-ins and re activated them one by one. With all of them deactivated, the media library worked fine.
When I tried to re activate Genesis Simple Hooks, I got the following error:
The plugin generated 1 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Magazine Pro Child ThemeFebruary 3, 2017 at 9:03 am #200504Victor FontModeratorIt may not be anything that needs to be fixed. Sometimes you'll see this error when activating a plugin, but it may not even be related to the plugin you're activating. It could be coming from someplace else. In most cases, there is no impact whatsoever after the plugin is activated. You really need to have WordPress debug turned on to troubleshoot and see what's really producing the error.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?February 3, 2017 at 9:06 am #200505AVTsteveParticipantThank you for your reply, but after I activate the plugin, I can't insert an image into a post because of the original issue of the media library not coming up. Are you saying this is unrelated?
February 3, 2017 at 9:09 am #200507Victor FontModeratorI don't know. Turn on WordPress debug to determine what's going on.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?February 3, 2017 at 9:47 am #200510AVTsteveParticipantWordPress debug shows the following:
Notice: register_sidebar was called incorrectly. No id was set in the arguments array for the "_" sidebar. Defaulting to "0". Manually set the id to "0" to silence this notice and keep existing sidebar content. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 4.2.0.) in /home3/avtmarke/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4136
Notice: get_currentuserinfo is deprecated since version 4.5.0! Use wp_get_current_user() instead. in /home3/avtmarke/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3828
My problem is that when i load functions.php into Dreamweaver, the references to lines 4136 and 3828 are not correct. Furthermore, complete document search for get_currentuserinfo yields nothing, and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot the register_sidebar issue.
February 3, 2017 at 10:04 am #200511Victor FontModeratorregister_sidebar does not exist in Genesis Simple Hooks. The functions.php referred to here is the WordPress functions.php, not the child theme's. You've probably got some bad code in one of the Genesis Simple hooks hooks. I would go through everything you have in any hook, remove code from the hook one at a time, and save the rest. You'll eventually find the bad code.

Deleted a couple of other plugins that have not been supported in a long time and problem went away. Still not sure exactly what fixed it, but it's fixed. Thanks for your input
