Hey guys, I'm a dissatisfied user from the enemy camp and would like to join the Genesis ranks! But I have some questions before conversion...
1. Will switching kill my SEO?
2. Is there a smooth/easyish way to transfer SEO settings?Hoping this works out, done with silly Thesis.

"Enemy camp", that's cute! It is true that one's preferred WordPress system (or actually any CMS) becomes the object of adoration and absolute loyalty! ๐ It's like arguing over whose children are better - nobody will agree, and no clear answers. I actually have built sites with Thesis a few times, and I liked it. But that was pre-2.0, and I am a Genesis fan. And any theme developer may make features that will tempt you to become locked in. Just look at Themeforest, although the new specs/requirements are trying to address that.I'm sure Mr. Wonderful (aka Chris) would like you to believe that using Genesis will Totally Destroy your SEO! Conversely, you're asking here, so the answers will be biased in favor of Genesis. IMO you can get decent SEO with any good WordPress theme, but some work may be required (shudder!)
To get more specific - is there a direct Thesis-to-Genesis SEO exporter? Unfortunately, I don't think so. Will your SEO be killed? Gee, I don't think so. And many Genesis people use Yoast instead of the Genesis SEO stuff - it's more hardcore.
I hope you enjoy Genesis if you go for it.

With that in mind, I'm wondering if it may be better for you to migrate your SEO info from Thesis to Yoast (or some SEO plugin of your choice) before migrating your theme. Break up the workload a bit.

What a sales staff we are! And no affiliate links! ๐Funny - I checked Andrea's good tip about the Transporter, and sure enough, I had favorited that plugin before. ๐ Probably a reflection of how dull I find SEO, albeit important.

November 15, 2013 at 1:28 pm #73233calebpikeMemberI would find SEO dull if I didn't make most of my revenue through my site. Was just terrified that if I changed things I'd lose traffic.
November 15, 2013 at 8:55 pm #73337markmelchMember@calebpike, I was a Thesis 1.5 - 2.1 user and recently switched to Genesis. I'm quite happy.
