    I followed the instructions for setting up the slider from here
    my permalinks are set up with the post name and saved and images were regenerated, and created a new portfolio post.
    For the life of me I can't figure out where I get the ID number, from the new portfolio post, to include in the slider.

    Well, what you would think should be in your dashboard as a default feature isn't. Install the Reveal ID's plugin and it will then add a column to that area which identifies the ID.
