Suddenly locked out of my WP: "Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid."

I was able to login all day, but tonight my login page would just come back after entering my username and password.

Weird. So I tried again. Nope. It keeps looping back to the same page.

I tried to reset the password, got the emails, clicked on the link in the email, and got this message every time:

"Please enter your username or email address. You will receive a link to create a new password via email.
Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid."

So the key sent is already junk even before using it.

I tried to reset via functions.php, not working either. So I found this:

I looked but the file example.html is not on my installation. And I'm running 4.2.2.

Have you heard of this issue? Some people have reported it's a recent problem, but no other info except to upgrade WP. I already have the latest version.

Any word of wisdom?

Are you running any additional security plugins? Or limit login plugins?

It was finally a server error that extended to other databases as well, but it's fixed now!
