    I setup the Genesis framework with the Sample Child Theme, but I am trying to find out how to move the Genesis slider to directly above the #content area.  Not sure the best way to achieve this.  Currently, it is stuck in the Header Right widget area.

    I would go ahead and create a widget area above your content, and move the slider in there.

    Brian Gardner recently published a blog post which explained how to easily create a text widget. Rather than populate it with text, you could put the slider there:
