Just curious... What is considered to be an ideal width for a blog (if such a thing even exists)?  Is it possible for a site to be too wide?  For instance, my site (clearly a work in progress) is currently set at 1100px.  Is that a visual no no? This is my first blog and I am learning a lot along the way.  Before I really begin to add content, I want to have a site framework that I am happy with.  I am considering reducing the size to 1050px.  Thoughts... My site: http://www.blackboarddreams.com

    Thank you.

Is it possible for a site to be too wide? Yes.

    Is 1100 too wide? No.

The latest version of Genesis is 1152px wide:

I agree with Susan. But you could always make you site responsive to adapt to the viewers screen resolution also.

Thanks for the responses.  I use the prose child theme.  I was under the impression that it was responsive.  If not, how can I make my site responsive?  Thanks again.

Prose doesn't show up on the StudioPress site as being responsive.

You have two basic options - get a theme which is responsive, or make your theme mobile responsive. Here's a starting off point: http://www.studiopress.com/design/beginners-guide-responsive-design.htm
