Simple Social Icons customize icons

I'm trying to upload a custom icon for the simple social icons on my clients test site. I've only been able to edit the hover color using this code:

.simple-social-icons .social-facebook a:hover {
background-color: #4965a0 !important;
}

I tried removing the a:hover thinking it would enable me to change the actual icon, but that didn't work.
.simple-social-icons .social-facebook {
background-image:url('http://edv.womenwithvoice.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/facebook100.png');
}

I tried taking out the Facebook specific to see if it would work universally, but that didn't work either.
.simple-social-icons {
background-image:url('http://edv.womenwithvoice.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/facebook100.png');
}

What am I missing?

It wasn't working, so I decided not to use the plugin. I ended up adding text only to pull the images I wanted into the "header right" area.
