I am using the Executive Theme and was trying to set up two different sidebars, say, Sidebar A and Sidebar B. I did get these sidebars to show up in my Widget Area for selection. But, I cannot get them to activate in the Sidebar Selection part of the Page edit. I only manage to somehow add yet another, redundant sidebar widget area named Sidebar A. What seems to be going on is the Primary Sidebar Widget Area get selected for EVERY page. When I empty that widget are of widgets, it shows up as empty on every page. I did go to Settings -> Reading and set a default sidebar (note that Sidebar A doesn't show up now, so I need to delete the redundant Sidebar A somehow.).

Okay, my objective is to have two different sidebars (eventually more) to used dynamically on various pages. also, I want to clean up my Widget Area on the Admin page. I have read the Codex, and Genesis tutorials, but cant' seem to find any help.

Do Genesis Simple Sidebars work? Where can I find instructions for this plugin? Also, how can I unregister the redundant Sidebar A?

    Thanks

After some fiddling, I got the Simple Sidebars to behave. 🙂 Still would like to find some instructions or tutorial, to be sure. I will look some more as well.

Also, would like to figure out how to get rid of the spurious widget areas in my Widgets Admin Area. Not sure where to find the ID for a sidebar for example, especially when two sidebars have (inadvertently) the same name. Also, where to you safely put the unregister PHP code? Which function.php file, for example? Admin? Theme? wp-includes? Or just use the Genesis Extender Custom?

    Thanks.

Have you looked at the dynamic sidebar widget? http://www.qurl.nl/dynamic-widgets/
