I am receiving critical security notices from my Wordfence plugin about needing to upgrade the Genesis Simple Edits Plugin. I use this plugin because it is part of the Genesis package. Are there plans to update this plugin any time soon? Can I deactivate this plugin in some way? I do not want my site being hacked.

The reason WordFence is giving you notifications is that Simple Edits has already been updated (Last Updated: 2014-10-6) and you need to apply this update to your site.

If you are using the plugin and are satisfied that is serves your needs then you should definitely process the update.

If you are not using the plugin, it should be (deactivated and) deleted from your site.
