How can I add support for a custom post type landing_page in the Genesis Featured Post Widget for the home page on Magazine Pro theme?

I have a (custom post type) post assigned to the category that is set in the featured post widget, but the widget will only show regular posts, and not the custom post type, even though the custom post type is in the right category.

Note: I tried using Genesis Featured Post Amplified widget, and it accomplishes what I'm attempting, but it also breaks the design on Magazine Pro.

If the Amplified plugin isn't working for you, check out this post by Sridhar Katakam ... his tutorial is about moving the title in the Featured Post widget, but if you pull the Github gist he uses (by Gary Jones), you can change the code to pull your CPT instead (looks like line 44).

Thanks for the point in the right direction.

I tried using the gist as he recommends, and I added my landing_page custom post type to line 44 like you recommended and it worked great for displaying my landing_page post types in my featured widgets. Unfortunately for some reason Gary Jones widget doesn't play nicely with Premise Landing pages plugin and it broke those landing pages.

So I just decided to make the core edit to the featured-post-widget.php in themes/genesis/lib/widgets/featured-post-widget.php on line 102 I added 'post_type' => array( 'post', 'landing_page' ), and it works beautifully.

The only problem of course is that it's a core edit, so I've just noted it for the next time I install a new Genesis.

    Thanks for your help.
