I have used the Custom Post Type UI plugin in the Essence Pro-theme in order to separate blog posts from podcasts. So I have one page for posts with a blog category and another page for podcasts with the pod category. In order to separate these, I had to use the Custom Post Type UI plugin.

Then, I noted that the blog posts came in two columns, but the podcast is only one column. So I tried the AB Post and Page Grid as I wanted two columns even for podcasts. But then only blogs were let through. When I changed the category to Pod nothing did show up. I have also tested to change to different numbers of items without any effect.

Do I expect too much that these plugins should work together?

If anyone wants to check in WP how it behaves, I can arrange a login.

Also, if you know of any better method to have two archive pages (blogs and podcasts) I am all ears.

You can use CSS or PHP to display posts in columns or use the AB Posts Grid.

You can use 1 archive for standard posts using a template like front-page.php, home.php or using your reading settings to set your posts page and 1 for CPT entries simply by linking to the CPT archive or using a cpt-archive.php file where cpt is the name of your custom post type.

    Bradalton,
Thank you for your suggestions. I appreciate your answer.

The problem with the AB Post and Page Grid was that it did not show the Podcasts-category at all. It only lets through the Blog-posts category, when I changed the categories for the block.

Does CPT relate to the Custom Post Type UI plugin, which I used? Or, do you mean the Custom Post Types plugin which I have bought in full version, but still not used?

Would you please be so kind and elaborate a little more on the latter part of your answer. I think it is obvious to you that English isn't my native tongue. So a bit more on this would be very helpful.

I mean the name of your CPT. See this example.https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/#custom-post-types

However, you don't need to use a template. You can simply link to your CPT archive in your menu. Example : This CPT archive for resources

    Braddalton,
Thank you for the links. I will study them in depth.
