    Hey everyone -

    Go to my homepage at http://www.freelancewriterinchicago.com and you'll see this:

    [easy_contact_forms fid=7]

    ...Instead of the form its supposed to display.

    It's for the "Easy Contact Forms" plugin. It displays fine on http://www.freelancewriterinchicago.com/contact/.

    It worked fine until a couple days ago. I tried disabling all plugins and re-enabling one by one, and that didn't reveal a plugin problem.

    Any suggestions?

    Shortcodes will not execute inside of a widget in WordPress unless you add the following to functions.php:

    add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');

    Copying and pasting that into functions.php for Genesis causes a 500 error. Is there another way to do this? Funny enough, it actually worked for more than a week or so within the widget. FYI I am not a coder. Do I need to create a child theme to make this work?

    You are using a child theme. You are using Parallax Pro. You can't have a child or a child. You have to copy the code into the functions.php file of the child theme. Never change anything in the framework itself. Copying that code shouldn't have given you any error at all.
