    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could offer some help. I've been designing Genesis themes on a local host with the intention to sell on my website shop and on Etsy as a 'pre-made, customisable wordpress theme'.

Simply put; when you buy the genesis frame work or a child theme from StudioPress, you get an instant download of a zip file which you can then upload to WordPress. I want to sell those.

I know how to design the theme, I know how to transfer a locally hosted website to a live website using filezilla (thats not what i want to do in this case), I know how to use Etsy and my website shop but what I'm not sure about is how and what I need to include in the zip file so that someone can easily download said zip file and simple upload it to WordPress.

I hope i've explained myself properly and thank you to anyone who can provide advice!

The best advise I can give you is to download the Genesis Sample theme, and see what is included in that theme's zip file.

Generally, the zip file will include:

    stylesheet
    front-page.php (if you use one)
    functions.php file
any other php files you have created
    a screenshot of your theme
a readme text file with instructions, or further information

To get an idea of what to include, refer to the official WordPress docs (although this is for submission to WordPress you should get a clear understanding of what is involved)

    https://make.wordpress.org/themes/handbook/review/required/

and more specific to selling child themes
