I have the Scribble theme on one of my sites. I am having issues with the page so tried to clean up it up regards to W3C validation. I have one issue that I cannot resolve and when I looked at the demo Scribble site and ran it through the validator, it had the exact same problems as my site.

Using a Gravity Form in the "contact" widget (which you recommend to do) causing a invalid markup according to W3C. The error -
document type does not allow element "link" here

is caused by using the GF in a widget. But I have tried to use the form 2 different ways and get the same error. I have tried using the function call inside a PHP widget. <?php gravity_form(1, false, false, false, '', false); ?>.

And I have tried using the GF widget and disabling script options under "Advanced." Neither technique will cause the page to validate. If I get rid of the form, I get 100% validation. But with the form, I don't.

Has anyone figured out a way to use Scribble with Gravity Forms in the Contact widget, and have their homepage validate?

    Hi Kary! 🙂

It looks like this is an issue with Gravity Forms. I took this from their faq page:

How do I get my form in the Gravity Forms widget to pass W3C validation?

The most common problem with validating form embedded in the Gravity Forms widget is the "document type does not allow element 'link' here" error.

Widget stylesheets are loaded inline and not in the page head. This is due to a limitation of the platform and the only way the widget has to enqueue the styles automatically.

You can disable the script output in the widget options but you'll have to make sure the Gravity Forms scripts are enqueued in your page elsewhere.

Documentation on properly enqueuing scripts is at located at the bottom of this page.

    Here's a link to the page: http://www.gravityhelp.com/frequently-asked-questions/faq-general-questions/

The question is located in the middle.

    I hope this helps!

Your site is great, by the way! 🙂
