MemberHi there,
I'd really like a responsive real estate child theme for Genesis - are there any responsive updates planned for AgentPress - or can anyone recommend an alternative (must be responsive/Genesis though).
Thanks in advance,
JasNovember 17, 2013 at 9:33 pm #73884AnitaC
KeymasterSP is working on something but there isn't a release date. You can use other responsive themes with the Agentpress plugin. There are other developers who have used the plugins with other themes. I have actually been working with customizing Metro with the Agentpress plugin here - demo3.cre8tivediva.com. I have two clients in the works right now using it. If you'd like some customized service, I am available. Just visit my website and send me a note.

MemberAgent Evolution offers responsive real estate themes designed for Genesis. Their "Picture Perfect" theme is both responsive and includes styling for the AgentPress Listings Plugin. I have never used any of their themes with APLP, so I don't know what their claim of "styling" means, but I have used their Turn Key theme and it was everything they promised it would be.

MemberI also want studiopress to release their AgentPress mobile responsive theme! I've been working on building a site with the AP 2.0 but I've been checking every day for the last several months for the new release of the mobile one to no avail...
I'm dying here... please someone and SP tell us when it's going to be released! please, pretty please. 🙂

ModeratorI love @anitac's take on customizing a Metro/Agentpress hybrid - it's lovely!
demo3.cre8tivediva.comDecember 2, 2013 at 3:50 pm #76664RealtyCandy
MemberSusan,
I think that demo3.cre8tivediva.com theme is super nice too. That should be the AgentPress 3.0 theme right there!!!
I see a number of people asking about AgentPress mobile responsive.
We have just finished doing a couple of "modifications" to client sites like fractionalspecialist.com and fabuloussouthbay.com
If that is something that someone needs, you can get it over at http://realtycandy.com
Thanks,
James

MemberAny updates you can share anitac on a release date for a responsive real estate child theme for Genesis 2? I think the reason people are getting anxious, is due to a few comments around the release date of Genesis 2 that a responsive version of Agentpress would be available soon! It would be nice to atleast have an eta.
Thanks!

Keymaster@RealtyCandy thank you for the compliment. @PDXRE I don't know when Studiopress will be coming out with a responsive Agentpress. I just decided to twiddle around with Metro and came up with the demo. I am tweaking the responsive code now. I plan to release my version for free in a couple of days. I haven't added the color switcher in there yet though. Everything in steps.

MemberAm (belated) reading this piece of the forum -- I had first read a recommendation to use AgentPress on an IDX provider site which I plan to use for a client -- the IDX feed is responsive so right away came over and bought AgentPress --- oops , now see it is not a responsive theme. Back to the drawing board.
Has anyone had experience using the iHomeFinder IDX feed on any of the other Genesis themes that are responsive? and can point me to what they successfully used?
Thanks in advance.
(And BTW -- the Metro/Agentpress hybrid that someone here had done is lovely -- perhaps that is the direction I have to go in??)

Member@carolin iHomeFinder WILL NOT officially support or help you with any responsive themes or for the matter any themes that include technology that is a couple years new.
Out of the box iHomeFinder will only work with the current (old-nonresponsive) AgentPress theme and the OLD WordPress 2011 & 2012 themes which they try to turn you back on using them when you call with issues. It also has a few bugs with ALL versions of Internet Explorer that make prospect sign-up & login impossible.
It takes A LOT of work on your part without any help to make their plugin work (and still with many bugs that will display some of their forms broken up) on the newer HTML5 themes. It is also incompatible with most SEO plugins. Although they claim that they have the friendliest SEO plugin, they use a lot of javascript code to display the listings that most of it will be included on the description meta. If you are using Open Graphs meta tags ALL they display is javascript code.

MemberWow, good information, "sdbroker" ... since you mention the poor track record and experience you have had with iHomeFinder what is thought of as being the best IDX currently in terms of compatibility with newer technology and responsive themes.
I was originally poised to try and take this client to FlexMLS, but realized from reports that it is only "partly responsive" and I could not get any ETA for when it would be completely responsive, so had reviewed and was thinking iHomefinder might be one that would work, but with your comments sounds like I need to keep looking.
I need an IDX that will work well for a small office of under 10 agents, that is responsive, and won't take a lot of work out of the box to make work right and look good, as they have limited budget for custom work.
Has anyone had experience, good or bad, with IDXBroker? and it working with a Genesis theme that is responsive -- and if so which theme?

MemberI still use iHomeFinder but I have put 100s of hours to make it partially work the way I want to. BTW - their map search is NOT officially responsive and only partially responsive with a some CSS work from your part.
I believe from what I've reviewed that currently only IDX Broker is fully responsive but I don't like the fact that you have to create a subdomain and forward it to them for the IDX to work, plus I don't like the way it displays the photos and the lead capture on the listing's detail page which is pretty lame IMO. Also not sure how SEO friendly the plugin is as from what I see on several sites that is installed most of the URLs are not even SEO friendly.
Most of the IDX plugin providers offer you a lemon and it's up to you how many hours of work you are willing to put to make a lemonade out of it.
There are a few custom IDX options that they are actually pretty good but they use their proprietary technology that they will not offer as a plugin, will not work with WordPress and you MUST use it with their own website templates which make the whole package extremely expensive, so keep looking and if you find any that you are happy with (out of the box) please let me know. 🙂

MemberThanks much "sdbroker" -- I appreciate the insight --
I did not yet know about that, but don’t like the fact that you have to create a subdomain and forward it to them for the IDX to work - that seems like a poor solution.I originally wanted to go with FlexIDX for the client, but Q & A has led me to know that it is not a fully responsive IDX, and I could not get an ETA out of them as to when it would be - so I moved on.
Your comments of spending 100s of hours to make the ihomefinder work, is daunting to say the least. This is a client site and they are not going to pay for 100s of hours to get something to work well-- I need a solution that is practical and not a lot of custom CSS and for the IDX and the template to be responsive now -- the client will get a new site now and not want to have to get it rebuilt and retweaked in a few months, so it needs to be responsive and as new technology as possible now.
IDX Broker was said to me by someone to be the most responsive, but in my review of it there were other drawbacks it seemed, but maybe I'll check into it a bit more. Back to the drawing board.

MemberI am very biased since I am a IDX Broker Developer Partner.
Having said that, I have learned a lot about IDX over the last few years. One of the most important things is that all of the vendors are better at some things than others.
I have owned Palm, Nokia, Blackberry, and Apple smartphones. They were all better than everybody else at something.
IDX is the same way. Some vendors will have a feature set that works for you, and that same feature set may not be a good match for someone else.
I have done AgentPress responsive with IDX Broker Platinum installs for a lot of clients. The biggest reasons that I have clients switch TO IDX Broker from other vendors are:
1. Mobile Responsive
2. Map Search
3. CRM / Lead CaptureI know that IDX Broker is working on adding new features.
Let me know if there are any specific questions about IDX Broker that I can help with.
Thanks,
James

KeymasterI have added in the Blue as the default, then Green, Red and Tan. I need to write up some instructions on my website, but because of the time I've put in to this, I won't be able to do the free version but the price will be minimal. I'll post back when it's all ready.
