I'm working on a site that will have many contributors so to keep things neat (esp on mobile) I'll need to have the post date on a different line than post author. I just need to remove the #text "by" but I can't seem to figure out where it's generated from. Maybe from Genesis itself?

If I could find it, I could change it's color so it isn't visible or something.

    Any leads appreciated.

    Thank you!!

I removed your user id and password. That is NOT safe. This is a volunteer community and we pretty much don't provide hands-on assistance in that manner.

You can use the plugin Genesis Simple Edits or customize the entry header with this snippet - https://my.studiopress.com/documentation/snippets/entry-header-html5/customize-the-entry-header/.

That is not a pass to backend! It's only for viewing.

My question is not about entry header- it's about added text in byline.

    Thanks.

The byline is in the Entry Header. If you view the snippet you will see it there.

...have the post date on a different line than post author.

You do that with the snippet. And remove the word "by."

Okay, I did set up [post_date] [post_author_posts_link] in genesis_after_entry_content hook, so it's working on the blog page. The front page is a different story- it has it's own functions php (monochrome pro) but this snippet doesn't seem to work when I put it in that file.

    ??

    Thank you

( I also tried it in simple edits header field and plain ol' functions.php to no avail.)

The home page on Monochrome uses Widgets. If you are using the widget - the shortcodes are in there. Read more starting on page 61 of Genesis for Beginners.

Wow. That's a great resource- thank you!

I definitely configured widget content with that. I do still want both the author and date info but this guide doesn't show me where or how I remove the "by" bit of text though...

Is there a plugin css file that I should look at or is that on genesis lockdown?

    Thanks,
    K

It shows you the widget in an image. Look at bullet (16) remove the "by" from that line.
