Anyone know how to remove the 'G' icon / gravatar that shows up in the browser bar next to site name and tag? I noticed that even large companies have left it - inadvertently? - see http://www.altimetergroup.com/ for an example. I would like to put my own in place instead. Must be simple to do, but I can't find the setting for it. Tnx.

If I understand you correctly you are referring to the favicon.
If you go to your theme's images folder you should find a favicon there already (favicon.ico). Delete it and upload your own favicon. It may take a while for it to show up but it will appear eventually.

There are lots of online favicon generators to create a favicon from your own image.
