    The few sites I've designed were new sites started from scratch. How I need to REDESIGN an existing site. How do I do that while keeping the original site active until the new redesign is ready?

    I would use a spare domain if you want to build it live so you can get CSS help and engage with your client.

    or

    Use Desktopserver and build it locally.

    Is there a studiopress theme that is similar to this one?

    Also, any suggestions on what to charge for designing a site like this?

    The Genesis Sample theme.

    A lot of design work involved however nothing too complicated.
