    I like to display the most recent posts from a certain category. this plugin seems outdated; http://wordpress.org/plugins/related-posts-via-categories/

    is there any Genesis / Studio plugin does the similar thing? Thanks

    The plugin you listed is updated in June 24, I am not sure why you said it's outdated?
    Anyway, Genesis doesn't have plugin likes that, but I use FPW sometimes http://wordpress.org/plugins/flexible-posts-widget/ it's currently not working with WPML, but other than that, it's a great one.
