I have a question about publishing blog post. When I'm writing a blog post I sometimes like to see what it looks like before I publish it including the thumbnail, but I don't want my subscribers to see the post until it's complete and don't want to spam them as well, is there a plug-in that will allow me to see the post published but not actually publish it. Hope this makes sense. Thanks so much

You don't need a plug-in. There is a "preview" function, which will show you what the post will look like when it is published. It's in the "Publish" box on the upper right of the screen in the new post view. There are two buttons up there - one is "save draft", the other is "preview".

Hello Susan thanks for your reply, Yes I know about the preview function but it does not allow me to view the thumbnail for the post on my main home page with out publishing that post.

Sorry - my misunderstanding - I missed the part where you mentioned the thumbnail! Let me dig further...

Thanks Susan, the reason I wanted to do this is to make sure the thumbnail looks ok....

That's a big problem right now with WordPress. I actually sent the WordPress developers an email about this. RobG are you using JetPack? How are your subscribers receiving your posts right now.

Right now Feedburner, and no I don't use Jetpack. I hope to be converting over to Mailchimp soon, I have it all setup just waiting for Feedburner to discontinue their services.

See, what I wrote to WordPress was that if we as the blog owners are editing the site - we should see everything in real time. I use the schedule feature a lot, however it doesn't allow me to see what it will look like on the site until it actually publishes to everyone. The same thing with posting in real time. I sent them some really detail information on this and hopefully I should hear something soon. It doesn't make sense for use to not see everything when we are logged in.

The only work around I have found, was to put the site in Maintenance Mode, view it and then turn Maintenance Mode off.

Does that mean your site will be off line if you choose maintenance mode? and were are the settings for this, thanks so much

There are several plugin's you can use, but as I review your blog Rob (as I have for a few days), I see you like to do graphics. Using a combination of these two plugins probably would work really well for you. This one will customize your login screen and your dashboard. I have been using this to customize my clients website experience - it adds their logo, etc., everywhere and removes the WP logo - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/erident-custom-login-and-dashboard/. You can customize the logo area, and backgrounds - where you can add a message to come back later. Then you want to use the Private Only plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/private-only/) which will activate the other screen when you are in maintenance mode. So when you want to go offline - activate Private Only only - and you can see the full website - everyone else get's routed to the new screen you created.

Anitac there is a -private tab already in my WordPress dashboard, I just try it out and published a post then view it on another web browser and only I could see the complete post including the thimbnail. I think this will work just fine. Thanks so much
