Every since the latest core WordPress update (tested on the previous version, no issue), I can no longer update plugins properly. I see the following when attempting:
"The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.
Enabling Maintenance mode…
Updating Plugin Advanced Cron Manager (1/1) "
It hangs on that process forever, and never actually completes. If I refresh the page after 5, 10, 20 minutes, the site is in maintenance mode. If I delete the .maintenance file, I then I find that the plugin successfully updated behind the scenes, it just didn't show me that and froze. So in the end, plugins are updating, but I'm getting stuck on that screen, and the site is stuck in maintenance mode until I delete the file.

Current site has been up on this server for 6 months or greater.Any ideas?
Have you checked with your web hosting provider? Looks like permission issue.

While it likely is permissions, I have no idea which are wrong, as this has worked with the last 3 versions of WordPress with no issues, it's only the latest version of WordPress that doesn't work.

Need Genesis help? Davinder @ iGuiding Media | My Blog | Fresh Genesis ThemesThis issue ended up sorting itself out. I'm not sure if it was a plugin conflict, or something wrong with that particular version of WordPress + my VPS setup, but it's fixed in the latest versions.
