I am getting this error when I try to see a live preview of the Balance theme

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare _verify_activate_widget() (previously declared in /home/jamflex/jamflex.co.uk/wp-content/themes/balance/functions.php:110) in /home/jamflex/jamflex.co.uk/wp-content/themes/genesis/functions.php on line 47

Now, I have deactivated all of my widgets and the genesis core theme works fine, but the child theme doesn't. (I have also tried another child theme and the same issue).

I have looked at the lines in question but there is nothing that correlates between the two themes.

Has anyone come across this before and can point me in the right direction please?

BTW, I am a PHP idiot.. so treat me as such. 🙂

Try restoring original functions.php file content in balance and genesis theme. Some code for sure is playing mischief in there.

I have deleted and re-downloaded both genesis and balance themes from studiopress. So it's nothing their end. I also have both running together on http://www.psycholocrazy.com without any issues.

Both domains are running on the same dreamhost servers.

I really can't think why it's doing it on one domain but not the other..

Ok, have you tried using sample genesis theme and checked for the issue. Also, removing all widgets when balance theme is installed?

Yes, thanks for that helpful reply..

I've Googled this to death and I'm posting here as a last resort as no one seems to be able to resolve this.

Davinder - I can't install the child theme because it breaks the whole thing and I'm locked out. Hence why I'm now testing via the live preview. I don't have ftp.

I have tried it with the basic Genesis theme and downloaded it again. I have tried everything without the plugins.

Does anyone know what piece of code is causing this and how to resolve it please?

Can you paste your functions.php file here? http://hastebin.com

It looks like your site may have been hacked though, it's trying to source these images

Those images are included in the articles on my main site. They aren't spam or hacks. I do think one of those is now a defunct link as the image is broken when I try to view it.

My hastebin codey for the Genesis theme is here..

Ok, it just looked like a weird IP address...

Do you have the functions from your child theme as well?
