Greetings-- I am having trouble understanding the rendering of the css files. My final goal is to use autoptimizer to render above the fold css inline, and defer the rest.

As of now, I am using Jetpack's custom css to add edit's to the theme template. After a little research, it looks like I should be editing the style.css file of my theme to make these changes. So, I copied the text from the custom css file, pasted it to the end of style.css and disabled Jetpack, cleared the cache, and it isn't rendering correctly.

I understand that the best practice is to replace my style custom rules with those in the style.css rather than pasting them on the end, but since I am just trying to make sure everything works, and that the last style in the cascade takes precedence, I am not making those edits until I know I have it right.

So the site renders correctly in the desktop version, but why isn't it rendering correctly in the mobile versions?

I am preparing the site on my localhost so no URL is available.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

most likely something went wrong when you copied the css.
You can check the css for errors, like typos, missing semi-colons or brackets, etc..., here:
