I'm about to start reconstruction of an old site (old layout can be found here), and I'm wondering if the good people of StudioPress can offer any input. I'm very aware this is an age old question, but given the needs I'll list, and that I trust the opinion of you guys more than random forums around the net, I believe I'll be happy with the feedback I receive.

-Needs to remain responsive (web, tablets, smart phones)
-I like wide, but I also like usability - I need to keep it safe.
-I'm pretty happy with the old design (width wise), which was only 950-960.

With that in mind, what's a good width to shoot for? I've read 960, 978 (divisible by 2 and 3, for whatever that's worth), 980, 1000, 1024, and 1200. Again, I'm not looking for the perfect answer, I'd just like people who know how Genesis works, and have an overall educated opinion of the web today (I mean you're here, using this framework) to chime in. Thanks for any help!

I tend to stick to whatever the Sample child theme uses since that's all I build on. It's been 1140px for the last year or so, but the latest version is 1200px, so that's the grid I recommend to the designers I work with.
