Tested your solution once more http://wpsites.net/web-design/add-featured-widgets-to-genesis-2-0-sample-themes-home-page/ And all i did get was a blank page. I want to have widgets on this sample theme homepage and only the homepage http://www.carob.se/.

I dont know if i am missing something. home.php, css and and functions.php? I have in my mind that it is something with home.php? Is home.php placed in a folder in the sample theme or is the name home.php and not front.php? (Did see that somewhere in another tutorial?)

You need to create a home.php file in order to use one. The sample theme does not include one.

Se the WP Codex on theme templates.
