    Hi, I'd like to replace our header. It is showing a slide I created using an HTML5 plugin. Now I'd like to display a simple static image. The slide was entered via the widget called Header Right, using a PHP code.

    It's been many years since I've done this and don't recall what I've done, or if I'm actually using the header right according to the theme's features. I tried various things, removing the code, changing the width of the header (in function.php) and used Customize to upload the new header image. Nothing shows.

    What am I missing?

    Any help appreciated... 🙂

    You are using header-right widget area. If you delete the widget on the Appearance/widgets page, the header right area should go away. It only displays if there's content in it.

    If for some reason that doesn't work, add this to the News Pro functions.php:

    // Removes header right widget area.
    unregister_sidebar( 'header-right' );

    Thank you Victor, I did try with removing the widget, unsuccessfully. I also used the code you sent, and it removed the widget content, yes. However, the header image I had uploaded to display, that won't show.

    Could this be the culprit?

    //* Add support for custom header
    add_theme_support( 'custom-header', array(
    	'header_image'    => '',
    	'header-selector' => '.site-title a',
    	'header-text'     => false,
    	'height'          => 230,
    	'width'           => 1140,
    ) );

    Regards,

    Andre

    I've installed a clone of my site and will experiment with this. Thank you again, I'll report if I find a solution.

    That worked. I was able to explore and test better on the clone without disrupting the live site.

    Using your code and editing the CSS accordingly (I had modified some parameters in the file), I was able to have the header behave like I wanted : full width image.

    Thanks again for your help!
