    Hi. I'm trying to add a new widget area in my Swank theme. I added this to the functions.php file right below all the other registered widgets:

    genesis_register_sidebar( array(
    'id' => 'category-index',
    'name' => __( 'Category Index', 'swank' ),
    'description' => __( 'This is the widget area that appears on the Category Index page.', 'swank' ),
    ) );

    I set up a custom page template where the widget will be displayed. The page template is there, but when I go to Appearance->Settings, that "Category Index" widget is not there. I can't see anything wrong with this code, so I don't know why it doesn't seem to be working. Could it be a caching issue causing my widgets to not update? Is there a workaround for that? (I've tried flushing the cache to no avail.)

    Thank you!

    Andi

    You won't find any widget under Appearance/Settings. The menu is Appearance/Widgets. Also, Swank theme is a third party theme sold by Pretty Darn Cute Designs and no longer available on the Studio Press site. You may have to contact them for an answer: https://prettydarncute.com/product/swank-wordpress-theme/
