Hi, I am a rookie in wordpress and have no experience in programming language at all. Can any kind soul out there please help me with this: Where can I find the css style sheet in wordpress? Is it under "Appearance", then "Editor"? I understand that by changing the stylesheet, it will make changes to the appearance and so on to all the document in wordpress. But if I want to make a single amendment to only a page, how do I do that? Lastly, how do I do a backup so that I can safeguard the original documents if I make a blunder to the stylesheet? Pls advise. Thank you very much for your help.

Welcome! Yes, the stylesheet is under Appearance > Editor.  You would make changes there if you want to change how your site looks (such as changing colors, functionality, etc.)

To edit a single page (or post), you would go to Appearance > Pages (or post), and then make an edit to the page or post. Doing so only impacts the content of that particular post or page.

You should always keep a "clean" copy of your theme (in the zip file) on your computer (or somewhere else), but if you somehow  mess with that, you can download a fresh copy through mystudiopress > downloads.

Some people recommend making changes to your theme through your hosting site, using FTP and a code editor; others are comfortable doing it through the WP dashboard (Personally, I copy my stylesheet onto a text editor on my desktop, make the changes there, and then past it into the stylesheet on my deashboard). It's up to you in terms of which you feel more comfortable.

Hi, Susan. Thanks for your help. It's very informative. Btw, what kind of code editor and text editor are you using? Can you recommend me one? I am using NotePad for text editor at the moment..I don't know about code editor. Is it something like firebug? Pls advise. Thank you.

I use Textpad, mostly because that's what I use for my job, so I'm familiar with it. Notepad will work. You just want to make sure that whatever you are using, you keep it in a text-only format (for example, don't use MS Word...) I found this site with some other recommendations for text editors

Firebug is an invaluable tool for helping you see the code on your live site, but any edits made there won't impact the actual site.

I should also add - if you haven't downloaded it yet, you should definitely read this:

I just purchased the executive theme and installed genesis and the child into my WP @ my hosting provider.  The default exec. theme looks nothing like the feature demo product.    I tried following

    http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/import-demo-content/

but this is very confusing ..

    What XML file and

What <<pload this file using the form provided on that page.>> is this.

I tried following the WP link and I receive a failure as I assume you wanted me to upload the executive.xml file.

    Completely at a loss.

The demo XML file you will import is located in your theme's zip file.
