ParticipantI was working on this site in development on my site's server and it was a little slow, but not terrible. My client has GoDaddy hosting (ugh) and ever since switching, it is SUPER SLOW!!! How can I figure out if there's something on the site causing the problems and/or hosting?

Memberit could be a number of things causing the slowness, including your host.
i'd start by disabling plugins and seeing if that speeds it up any.
once it comes up, BEAUTIFUL SITE!

ParticipantYour description of the events, may likley have the answer to your question.
"my site’s server ... it was a little slow, but not terrible" then "client has GoDaddy hosting (ugh) and ever since switching, it is SUPER SLOW!"
Besides moving it to GoDaddy, what did you change? If nothing then the culprit is most likely GoDaddy. GoDaddy's often overloaded remote MySQL server arrangement can really "choke" a WP based website.
Remember ... "Friends don't let friends host at GoDaddy"

MemberDear, your site seems slow...It may because of the server & VPS. Hope you will solve it soon.

MemberNice site.
If I can suggest, did you optimized your images for the web? I test downloaded one of your icon (SpringHasSprung) and its larger version and I think they are quite large. 33KB and 317 KB respectively.I wouldn't post any image larger than 40 to 60 KB especially when there are more than few of them. Even very large ones I would try to keep under 100.
But this will solve probably only part of your problem.

ParticipantPingdom tested nearly 8 seconds from Amsterdam and just under 5 seconds from New York.

- 25% of people abandon a web page that takes more than 4 seconds to load.
- 50% of mobile users abandon a web page if it takes more than 10 seconds to load. 3 out of 5 people won’t return to that web site.
- 25% of U.S mobile web users browse the internet only on their phones. They never use a laptop, desktop or other device.
- 79% of mobile web consumers use their phones for shopping.
- 40% of mobile shoppers will abandon an eCommerce site if it doesn’t load within 3 seconds.
Should be able to get this down to 3 seconds or less by moving to a better server and adding smushit with a a caching plugin like WP Super Cache.

ParticipantThanks everyone! I will be holding on to my "answer" to switch hosts as I've already mentioned this once to my client and she's less than interested. I will keep giving that answer to her when she complains about speed. I am also in the process of uploading final images and they will all be much smaller as I was moving quickly with temporary images during development. Thanks for all the feedback!
